Why a Food Tasting Is a Good Idea before Choosing a Wedding Menu

One of the most important decisions you will make in planning your wedding reception is choosing the menu. The right food will make your wedding reception a joyous affair for your family and friends.

The best way to choose your wedding menu is to sample dishes prepared by the chef who will cook the meal at your wedding. You will be able to sample many of the dishes that the chef typically prepares and decide which will be the best choices for your guests.

After you choose the venue for your wedding reception, ask to see a copy of the menu. You and your future spouse should discuss your preferences and those of your guests, as well as any people who might have dietary restrictions, such as vegetarians and those with food allergies. The chef should be able to provide you with a list of all the ingredients in the dishes. Make a list of the dishes from the menu that you would like the chef to prepare for your food tasting.

At the food tasting, take the time to savor each dish, discuss the taste with your partner, and ask about the ingredients and the price. Choose a variety of dishes to be sure that there will be something to appeal to everyone. Many couples decide to choose beef, chicken, and seafood dishes. Also consider appetizers, pasta, and salads when planning your menu.

Your guests will be talking about the cuisine at your wedding long after the reception is over. Schedule a food tasting so that you can sample the many options you have available and choose ones that all of your guests will love.
